Are you lookin’ at the job or the ride?

Be glad to ride for the Lord and he will make you happy.

Psalm 37:4 (Simplified Cowboy Version)

Two cowboys worked the exact same ranch and rode the exact same string of horses. They gathered the same cattle in the same pastures and slept in the same bunkhouse every night.

But one cowboy was miserable and the other was happy. Why?

Because one cowboy focused on the never-ending work and the other cowboy thanked God for the never-ending ride.

Are you lookin’ at the job or the ride?

Awesome, short sweet, simple. God’s WORD!

  • Definitely been looking at the job lately. But I also feel like in order to talk about my job, you’d have to change the story to something like this: Two cowboys worked the exact same ranch and rode the exact same string of horses in continuous circles all day, and taught others to do the same. They gathered the same cattle in the same pastures (which had gone to dust due to a drought) and slept in the same railroad tunnel every night.

But then again, telling the story that way might just come from having a wrong perspective on it – just as you’re saying.

    Well said….needed that today!

Similar to believing the glass of water is 1/2 empty or 1/2 full.
    FAITH keeps “it” full.
