Birds With Parachutes

by Kevin on May 26, 2015

Most Christians, including myself at times, are like birds with parachutes on, using the world to fly us up into the air on Sunday mornings so that we can jump out and feel the wind in our faces.

We look around and worship God for all the wondrous things he has made as we float safely back down to earth, congratulating each other on another successful Sunday in service of God, only to resume our monotonous lives on the ground, while conveniently ignoring the most basic fact of the bible…

Belief means nothing if it does not change everything you do, everything you say, everywhere you go, and everything you are…not in some futile attempt to avoid sin, but to serve God by loving others.

Today, I take my parachute off.

but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings like eagles;
they shall run and not be weary;
they shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:31

What about you?
