My First Radio Show And You Can Be A Part Of It!!

by Kevin on February 7, 2011

Today, February 8, 2011, is a very special day for me. From 5:00-6:00 p.m., I will be on my first one hour radio program. It’s called Speak Up and is a part of Christian Devotions. Click on those links to find out more.

The cool part about this program is that you can be a part of it. At the bottom, I have listed a call in number where you can be part of the show too!! I would love to be able to talk to some of you and we can all laugh and have a great time. You can also listen live on the internet if you don’t want to call in. Please join us.

Things I Hope to Avoid

Since this thing is live and there is no editing, I’m going to have to remember a few things. Below, I have made a list of things that I am going to try to avoid.

  1. Watch my language – Although I don’t cuss very often anymore, I do seem to use the words “crap” and “tool” quite often. I wouldn’t necessarily consider this cussing, but being a christian show, many people might find that offensive.
  2. Go to the bathroom before the show begins – Nothing would be quite as embarrassing as asking the host if he could hang on a minute while I went outside to water the tumbleweeds.
  3. Don’t get on Facebook during the interview – I am easily distracted and if I have my phone, I will get on the internet and see if anyone is commenting. I will try to give all of my attention to the show.
  4. Don’t get caught in the corner by trick questions from callers – I don’t know what a lot of those fancy church words mean. If someone asks me what I think about something I don’t know anything about, I’m going to respond with, “Jesus is the answer to every question I’ve ever had whether I know’d the answer or not.”
  5. Don’t talk about fartin’ – Not everyone thinks farting is as funny as me and Kari Ivey.
  6. Don’t try to be someone I’m not – I’m just a cowboy. I’m not a movie star or celebrity or even a great preacher. I’m just a cowboy that has given his life to spreadin’ the Good News.
  7. Don’t mention Reilly Weatherby – My daughter said that I had better not mention her even though she wants me to.
  8. Don’t talk with my hands because they can’t see me – If I have to explain that, you wouldn’t understand.
  9. Don’t be boring – I really don’t think I’ll have a problem with this one.
  10. Don’t mention any names in stories – This is just to protect the innocent of course.

Ok, here’s is the stuff you’ve been waiting for. Just click on the following link to listen to the show live at 5:00 p.m. CST:

  • This is an awesome opportunity Kevin, Congratulations! I wish I could tune in but one of the boys from my youth group has an important basketball game tonight. let me know if you ever post a recording of the interview, I’d love to listen to it. 🙂

    • Kevin

I will post a link to it tomorrow and it will be on my website for those that will miss it. Tell your friend I said good luck in his game tonight!

  • Chris

Well howdy! This is very cool! As I told you when we met for burgers, I think you have a gift for parable, and for putting deep things about the Christian life into simple words that everyone can get. If that’s true, then God has created this opportunity for you, and he’ll see you through it.

You’re the horse. He’s the rider.

    • Kevin

Thanks Chris…I appreciate all your support and the prayers that I know come from you. I’ll trust God to use me as He sees fit.

  • I’ve copied the link too. Very cool opportunity. Divine doors open. I’m having the ladies from the neighborhood over tonight, but the last hour before they get here, I’ll be tying up loose ends as I listen. Proclaim Jesus strong Kevin… as you always do!

    • Kevin

You can bet I will Colleen. I don’t know a whole lot about things, but I do know who my Lord and Savior is!!! I can’t wait to see God work, not only through me and Christian Devotions, but through you and your ministry as well. God Bless!!

  • Kevin,
I love these….what a riot. Look forward to talking with you tonight on the show.

God Bless you for all you do for Christ. Talk to you soon.

  • Kari

Im sorry, I can’t be serious right now, I am laughing so hard at number 5 that I can even think right!!!!!!! When I seen my name, I started laughing even harder!!!

    • Kevin

I thought you might find that a little funny when you read it. 🙂
