Send someone to tell my family

Will you be the rich cattleman or will you be Lazarus when your time comes to cross that great cattleguard called death? Maybe you are one of the five brothers that needs to be warned.

19 “There was a rich cattleman who was dressed in fancy clothes and lived in luxury every day. 20 At his front cattleguard was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores 21 and longing to eat what fell from the rich man’s table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores.

22 “The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham’s side in heaven. The rich man also died and was buried. 23 In Hell, where he hurt worse than he thought was possible, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus saddled up and riding beside him. 24 So he hollered out to him, ‘Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in the water trough and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.’

25 “But Abraham replied, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony. 26 And besides all this, between us and you a great canyon has been set in place, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.’

27 “He answered, ‘Then I beg you, sir, send Lazarus to my family, 28 for I have five brothers. Let him go and warn them, so that they will not also ride  into this place of horrible torment.’

29 “Abraham replied, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets; let them listen to them.’

30 “‘No, father Abraham,’ he said, ‘but if someone from the dead rides to them, they will know that what they are doing is wrong.’

31 “He said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.’”

Luke 16:19-31 (Simplified Cowboy Version)

I have five cowboy brothers that need to hear this. You might be one of them. There is going to come a time when we die and cross that cattleguard into our next life. Once that happens, we can’t go back.

All of our hearts will be examined for one thing–Jesus Christ. If he’s in there, we go to heaven. If not, ……

It breaks my heart to see some people I care so much about, riding as fast as they can towards hell. They are not at a trot. They are whippin’ and spurrin’. They have made money, physical pleasure, and earthly gain their priorities in life instead of the most important person that ever lived…and died…and rose again.

Maybe you’re one of these cowboys. If you are, I beg you to pull up on them reins. Stop the direction you are going. Turn from that path and start following Jesus. He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

I’m callin’ to you today. God sent me to give you this message. Saddle up with me and let’s both start ridin’ for Him.
