Thanks for being my friend – Cowboy Poetry by Athen Allee

by Kevin on April 11, 2012

I have an old horse and she’s been around a while.

We’ve been through thick and thin and many a trial.

She’s done me right when I needed her the most.

A stick in a string like her would make any cowboy boast.

So I’m proud to say and I’ll holler it in the wind.

Thanks, Old Lucky Chance for being my friend.

I had some old dogs that never let me down.

They could always make me smile when my face seemed to frown.

Their tails, if they had one, always wagged with pleasure.

It was like they were looking at me as there long lost treasure.

And if there was ever any confusion and discipline was delivered,

There was never any question and our friendship never rendered.

So I’m proud to say and I’ll holler it in the wind;

Thanks, to all my dogs for being my friend.

I have some good Pards or Buds some would say.

They’d come a runnin’ whether it’s night or day.

Their always a good listener and give Godly advise,

On them I’d bet my paycheck if I had to roll the dice.

So again I’m proud to say and I’ll holler it in the wind;

Thanks, to all my Pard’s for being my friend.

I have a beautiful wife that was given to me by God.

Neither one of us are perfect but were like to peas in a pod.

And whether inside or out working hard or playin’,

She always makes it a priority to save some time for prayin.

We have been through a lot, smooth waters and rapids.

But she always sticks by my side no matter what happens.

 So again, I’m proud to say and I’ll holler it in the wind.

Thanks, to my wife for being my friend.

Now I have a great friend that really tops them all.

He’s always been there for as long as I can recall.

He tells me he’s my friend there in John chapter fifteen.

And through his life here on earth there’s nothin’ he ain’t seen.

He has given up his life to die for you and me.

So that we can be in heaven, with him for eternity.

This friend I’m talkin about is Jesus Christ.

The Big Trail Boss and Top Hand, he’s the Great Sacrifice.

So lastly, I’m proud to say and I’ll holler it in the wind.

Thanks Jesus for being my friend.
