Excitement is building as Channel Nine has officially announced the premiere date for the highly anticipated new season of The Block.

Fans of the popular renovation reality show can mark their calendars for August 12, when the series is set to return with a fresh batch of contestants ready to transform rundown properties into stunning masterpieces.

This season promises to deliver the drama, creativity, and nail-biting renovations that have made The Block a household name across Australia.

The show will air on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday evenings at 7.30pm, giving viewers a triple dose of renovation excitement each week.

The network has amped up the anticipation for the series by officially introducing the five teams competing on the series.

The trailer kicks off by giving fans a glimpse at the brand newBlockhead couples, revealing what they are set to bring to the table this time around.

'Prepare to meet your new Blockhead couples. They are about to find out the biggest Block ever ain't no holiday,' the voice over begins.

The footage then cuts to the Red Team, made up of married coupleCourtney and Grant, who tell the camera that they are 'more mates than romantic people'.

Grant then cheekily shoots back with: 'I hope you don't sleep with your mates,' in a candid insight into their distinct sense of humour.

The Purple Team's Mimi then tells the camera how 'we all have our husband's by the balls', prompting her shocked spouse Kristian to retort: 'Not true'.

Mimi assures him that she is just joking, while giving the camera a very pointed look.

Elsewhere, the Yellow Team's best matesRicky and Haydn inform series co-host Shelley Craft, 48, their shock strategy for winning the show, confessing: 'We are just winging it.'

The footage was shared to The Block's Instagram and fans quickly took to the comment section to express their excitement.

'Yes! Cannot wait,' one person wrote and a second added: 'The biggest Block ever!'

It looks to be an absolutely gripping season filled with the Channel Nine show's trademark combination of tension of fun-filled moments.

The Purple Team's Kristian and Mimi are no strangers to the spotlight after the pair went viral on TikTok for their Disney-themed wedding in Adelaide in 2023.

It has already been teased that the duo will bring the drama for the 20th anniversary season.

A source told Yahoo Lifestyle: 'The feeling is that we have bought some serious dynamite with these two and we are just waiting for an explosion.'

And the milestone series has already been rocked by difficulties as the Blue Team's Jesse and Paige, from WA, reportedly quit just five weeks into filming.

The shock decision was said to be of the pair's own accord and it has been claimed they will be replaced by another eager pair on the 2024 series.

Also making up the cast are Queensland couple Kylie and Brad Vines, who will compete on the Green Team.

The upcoming series of The Block was filmed earlier this year in the popular Victorian tourism hotspot Phillip Island.

Daily Mail Australia can reveal a Channel Nine-owned company purchased Island Cove Villas on the Victorian Island for a whopping $9.5million.

Situated two-and-a-half hours from Melbourne, the site currently features nine homes, a communal pool, a BBQ pavilion, tennis court and a children's playground.
