Walkthrough: Part One

Part One Part Two Part Three
Part Four Part Five

Introduction/Training

As Trunks, you're going to have to learn how to fight before you can be of any help to Gohan in defeating the android menace. Follow the big G's directions and destroy the two grey boulders to your north. Though he wants you to take out the first with a melee attack and the second with an energy attack, you can do it either way you want.

Next, you'll try valiantly to achieve Super-Saiyan form, but you won't quite be able to do it. After spotting some androids, Gohan will head north. Follow him, destroying the next boulder you see if you've got a hankering for an energy ball. When you reach him, you'll try to convince him to take you along to fight the androids. After playing a nasty little trick on you, you'll wake up later in the rain. In order to pursue your friend, you'll have to take to the skies. Right next to where you wake up is a small pedestal. Step onto this flight circle, press A and you'll be flown to Pepper Town.

Once prosperous, Pepper Town is now little more than an assortment of ruins. Head north up the grey path and you'll come across Gohan just as he's being knocked out by android fire. Oh, there goes your Super Saiyan power!

Goku's Home/East District 439

Flashing back to present day Earth, you're now controlling a much younger version of Gohan than we've just seen. After a brief conversation with Chi-Chi, you'll be given your first thrilling quest: Find the math book! Remember that you can review any outstanding quests by pressing the L button while in the start menu.

To find the math book, head right until you reach the living room, then head up the stairs. You'll find the book on a table in this room. Pick it up and head back to your room. It's math time! Well, actually it's time to fall asleep at the table. Anyway, when you wake up you'll find that the window above you has mysteriously opened. Go through it to get outside.

The first thing you'll want to do here is head to the upper left corner of the area. Follow the ridge here and you'll be led to an area with a +1 Power Capsule.

Head down the northeastern path area, and you'll come across a level one door. Punch through it and head right at the level 2 door that you can't open yet. Here you'll encounter Goku...or rather, Frieza disguises as Goku.

When he attacks, hit him with all of your energy attacks, then move in with punches. When you run out of energy, you can get a little more from the boulders below and to the right. If he hits you, grab the health in the boulder on the upper left. After beating him you should advance to level 2.

Apparently the last battle was just a dream. Of course, you still get to keep the items and experience you found. Head down into the kitchen and talk to your mom. When you try to go outside, she'll ask you to answer the phone. Go to the living room and you'll find the phone on the table to your right. After chatting with Krillin you'll be given your next quest: to meet him and the rest of your friends in the wastelands to the north.

Remember that level 2 door that we couldn't break? Well, now we can. First, you might want to hit the big circular save point located just to the north of Goku's house. Once you've done that, head through the level 2 door and you'll find a cave containing your Super Saiyan armor. Grab it and proceed through the door to the northeastern corner. Up here you'll find a world map. Walk up to it, press A, and get ready to fly!

World Map

Oooh, Mode 7! See the map in the upper right hand corner? The green arrow is you, the yellow star is your destination and the purple dot indicates the town you've just left. To move around, turn left or right until your arrow is pointing at your target, then press up to fly towards it. To enter an area, fly close enough to it that the name is displayed, then hit A. Now get moving towards the wastelands.

Northern Wastelands

This area is pretty straightforward. Just head along the path, destroying the boulders along the way for health and energy balls. You'll encounter a handful of ladybugs, which are easily dealt with via energy attacks. For the record, you won't be able to proceed past the electric gate to your north until you kill them all.

Keep going until you encounter the first tiger bandit. Here the path splits, and you can go either west or north. The west path leads to a retracted bridge that we can't cross yet, so we'll go the other way.

Take the northern path, then head up the path to your east (For the record, you can go west here as well, where you'll encounter a door only Goku can open. We'll be back here later.) Make your way through all the tigers and bugs, and you'll eventually reach a save point. Save and hop into the nearby flight circle.

You've finally reached Krillin and Co. Chat with everybody and you'll learn that Frieza is on his way to Earth, and that his landing spot is just up the path from where you are. You know what you've got to do. Head up the path, and once you move to the top of the ridge you'll trigger a cutscene.

After Trunks beats the tar out of Frieza and King Cold, follow him into the newly-created flight circle. From here, talk with Trunks again, and sit back to watch the long cutscene that unfolds as Goku returns.

Goku's Home/East District 439

Teleported back home, head into the house to surprise your mom. Once you've done that, hit the save point and head down into the path to the south.

This area is infected with a black mist that turns many a critter evil, making it a great place for Gohan to train. Other than a door in the northwestern corner that only Vegeta can pass through and a convenient map to access the overworld from, there's no way out of this two-screen woodland. The only reason we're here is to gain experience from the snakes and warthogs mulling around.

After you've level-upped to your hearts content (I recommend working your way to at least level 6), head back to your house and talk to Goku. He'll suggest that you travel to West City to meet up with Piccolo. Use the map in the woods to leave the area. As soon as you reach the overworld you'll be given another quest: Reach West City. In case you couldn't have guessed, this is the new star you see on your map.

West City Once you reach the city, you'll be given two new quests: Start the parade so you can get to Piccolo, and See Bulma at Capsule Corporation. Speak to the dog-like mayor just below you and you'll learn how to start the parade and get another quest: find an open-faced club sandwich.

Before we do that, though, let's take a look around town. There are a few capsules hidden around here. You'll find a +1 Strength Capsule in a residence on the east side of the city, and a Golden Capsule by walking to the right when right alongside the antique shop.

In between the group of residential houses in the lower left corner of the city is a young woman with red hair. Talk to her and she'll give you a new quest: Rescue her husband from the warlord. We'll do that later.

You'll find the town restaurant in the middle of the southernmost region of the city. Talk to the owner and he'll tell you that he's not making any sandwiches until you get him a newspaper. There's a newspaper stand along the east wall, but it turns out that the owner here has run off because his kid was in an accident on the school bus. Guess where we're going now?

Rescuing the Kids
Head up the eastern wall of the city and pass the roadblock. Eventually you'll see the bus driver (who isn't dressed like a bus driver) and he'll tell you that he's lost four of the kids. Finding these tykes becomes a new quest. Save at the save point, then walk into the woods directly to your left (or walk into the woods on your right to find a Golden Capsule ).

You'll find yourself in another mist-ridden area, fighting warthogs, snakes and bugs and tigers. Eventually you'll reach an area where you can go either up or to the right. First, head up, then take a left at the next possible turn. Down this path you'll find the first missing child. Now head back to the place where you made that last left turn, but go up instead to find the second kiddie.

Okay, now you want to backtrack to the crossroads near the beginning of the area where we went north instead of west. This time, go west, young man! You'll rejoin the road, where you'll find Yajirobe, who'll give you a Senzu Bean before running off. Head up the road and follow the path into the mountains until you come to a cave. In here you'll find a lost, lonely little girl and a much-needed save point. Continue up the path, rejoining the road and crossing the bridge. Here you'll find a flight circle in between a pair of skid marks. Use it to find the last missing kid and the overturned bus. Make your way back to the city and talk to the bus driver to complete the Missing Kids quest.

Now that that's done, everything should begin to fall into place. Go to the newsstand to receive a free copy of the paper. Take the paper to the restaurant owner to be given a free club sandwich. Take the Sandwich to Hercule (the guy in the center of town sporting a big black afro and brown gi). The first time you talk to him he'll give you his autograph. Take this to the little boy running around in the park just north of City Hall and he'll give you a Golden Capsule. The second time he'll take the sandwich and the parade will begin...or not! As it turns out, somebody's got to go find Hercule's favorite album "Eye of the Lion" before he'll perform. Just talk to the owner of the antique store in the northwest corner of town and he'll give it to you. Once you give this to Hercule, the parade will begin and you'll be able to reach Piccolo and Bulma.

In the area previously blocked, you'll find Piccolo, completing the "Find Piccolo and start the parade" quest. After talking to him, you'll gain the ability to switch between characters at save points. You'll also be given another quest: To talk to either Goku or the Mayor as Piccolo. The mayor is just above you inside City Hall. He'll ask you to help out a village being devastated by Triceratopses to the south. The path to this village lies down the south exit.

Before we head down there, we've got a few errands to do. First, Go to the overworld map as Gohan and fly to the Capsule Corporation, which is just east of West City. Or you could just use the footpath in the southeast corner of the city. Your call.

On to Secrets...
